Perkins+Will Grasshopper Users Group

HI There,

Mario Guttman and Tim Meador have developed a new geometry importer from Grasshopper to Revit. I have started using it on a project and wanted to share the initial results with you. You can download all of the Hummingbird items here https://ghhummingbird.wordpress.com/

this project is in it’s initial design phase and we are trying out a variety of skin systems/types on a fairly conservative massing. The developer wants to get an innovative design while not giving up sq’, how unusual right. So my initial thought was that grasshopper could really help that iterative process, wouldn’t it be great if we could speed up the Revit process as well.

well all Tim and I had to do was get Mario excited about this and away we go!  As always just email me and I will share the definitions etc. with you. Good luck!

This seems a great tool which id like to use but to link it directly into Revit do you have to purchase the whitefeet link?

    • Hi Paul,
At this time everything is provided in the download from food4rhino. Please see the included help doc for installation instructions.
      Thanks,
      Tim

Hi thanks very much for your response, i have got the addin loaded on Revit 2012 and workiing, I followed the same process for 2013 but when you click on the link nothing happens? i edited the addin file via notepad to match the file location of the dll files but still didnt work? also tried to load the 2012 one on a colleague’s machine doing exactly what i had done on mine and it wouldnt work, again the link was in revit but nothing happened.

  2. Sounds like the dll for whitefeet has been blocked by windows. Right click on the dll files and click properties. click the unblock button if its there.

  3. Hi Tim! I’m interested in creating a facade system like this through Hummingbird for Revit, do you still have this file and explanation of the process? I’m wanting to do a similar facade, however my facade pattern will look similar to the thermo bimetal breathable facade skin by Doris Kim Sung. I’m wanting to create a facade like this with the pattern of different leaves, ie the tulip tree leaf and a normal leaf shape similar to the pattern already present on Sung’s facade (not sure if this is possible?). Would really appreciate your help! My email is jessica.hulme14@gmail.com
    Thanks,
    Jess.
